Tales of The Flying Bunyip (D&D 3.5)
Festival of the Sand Gods
The Festival of the Sand Gods is a celebration focused on the cities located on White Sea. The White Sea is known to be a massive sandtrap, that gives its sands a water like sinking property. Because of this: Sandships were created. During the summer, the Festival of the Sand Gods was born.
Large Sand Whales that live within this habitat awaken and become active during the next several weeks. On top of that, the large sea of sand is blessed with none stop rain. Lore states that the cries of the sand whale’s emergence call upon the falling rain. It has not been proven to be true, but it is during this time that sailors avoid traveling the open sands.
During the duration of the Festival of the Sand Gods, it is revealed by local sailors that this is the sand whale’s season of procreation. Many ships were destroyed in the past as these sand whales mistook the ships as potential mates. Because of this, all travel and trade ceased and the cities celebrate the site of Sand Whales bursting through the sands and the refreshing rain that falls upon the desert cities.
